Undertaking the EA Process

As part of the Environmental Assessment, the following major activities will be carried out over the next couple of years in consultation with review agencies, the public, and other stakeholders:
  • Identification of the transportation problems within the study area
  • Establish an inventory of the natural, social, and cultural environments within the study area
  • Evaluation of the identified alternatives for addressing the transportation problems leading to a preferred alternative
  • Develop and evaluate the different methods or ways of implementing the preferred alternative
  • Carry out a detailed assessment of the potential effects including development of appropriate mitigation measures for addressing the identified effects
  • Prepare the Environmental Assessment Report for submission to the Minister of the Environment for review and approval
The results of the study will be documented in an Environmental Assessment Report. The Environmental Assessment Report will be submitted to the Ontario Minister of the Environment for an approval decision.
